Position Description The Electric Systems Operator will work with Power Systems Operations at Yanbu Refinery . This position has 24-hour responsibility for operation and initial troubleshooting response to emergencies, construction, and maintenance efforts on Yanbu Refinery Power System transmission and distribution power lines and substations equipment. The candidate will provide the highest level of electrical operations expertise to safely operate equipment at 115 KV and below. Candidate will be exposed to high stress while performing hands on operations during system disturbances or emergencies.
Minimum Requirements - Completion of ITC: English, Math, ER, MI. - CPR (CardioPulmonary Resuscitation) certified. - Desirable- Certification by ARAMCO Loss Prevention to issue Hot Work Permits, Cold Work Permits, and perform Gas Testing. MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Six years experience in power system construction, commissioning, maintenance and operation with emphasis on the operation of transmission and distribution systems and substation power apparatus. Working knowledge of power system installations in assigned area and pertinent portions of the Producing Instruction Manual, General Instruction Manual Power Distribution Instructions, Construction Standards and other applicable codes.
Duties & Responsibilities - At least SIX years experience in power system construction, commissioning, maintenance and operation with emphasis on the operation of transmission and distribution systems and substation power apparatus. -Comprehensive knowledge of safe operation, capability, and system impact on electrical transmission and distribution equipment under all working, weather, and physical conditions. -Comprehensive knowledge of power system installations in an assigned area and pertinent portions of the Producing Instruction Manual, Loss Prevention General Instruction. -Demonstrated leadership talents, ability to handle stress situations, and highly motivated to train subordinates. A thorough knowledge of electrical safety procedures and requirements with a confirmed and dedicated attitude towards safety and a proven determination to enforce safe work habits. -Performs as shift work director for electric system operation activities, schedules jobs, and provides liaison with the central dispatch coordination unit to coordinate the work. -Monitors operation of all substations and circuits in the area of responsibility. -Maintain clearance, hold tag, and work permit logs; switching programs, points of isolation, mimic board to show total system configuration and provides system operational guidance in his area of responsibility. Candidate shall ensure that that logs and regular reports are maintained on dispatch activities. -Develops detailed switching instructions and procedures for scheduled outages, emergencies, and control of system disturbances and is responsible for overall impact on the system. Orders system paralleling and breaking of parallel and Issues hot work permits and cold work permits -Issues clearances and work permits, using established procedures, to authorized personnel. Ensures that work permit receivers are aware of the limits of the clearances and work permits and adhere to all applicable safety requirements. -Provides clearances for additions and deletions of load to the distribution system during emergencies. -Directs efforts to isolate the cause of trouble and returns the system to normal operations. -Directs switchman, work crews, and efforts for repairs to facilities for restoration of power. -Consults with central dispatchers for outages and coordinates clearances and work permits for transmission lines where the central termination is the clearance point. -In frequent cases, provides kilowatt hour meter readings for confirmation of electrical consumption and verification of invoices from 3rd party supplier. -Participates in training of personnel who are candidates for switching duties and monitors trainees for safe work practices on the job sites. -Ensures system drawings are kept current and accurate. Insure indication lights within ammeters which are equipped the Electric System to show the present statue of the system. -Makes decision to perform line patrol after system disturbances and prior to re-energization based on information from Electric System Operators in the field and local knowledge of lines/cables/equipment. -Performs isolating and restoring tasks for the equipment. This includes the isolation and restoring of motor starters up to 4.16 kV and the rack in and rack out of power circuit breakers up to 115 kV. -Performs miscellaneous tasks such as applying and removing ground to and from equipment & circuits, energizing new equipment, updating the electrical one line diagrams and the mimic board, preparing schedule and switching program, issuing work permits, running the emergency generator periodically, ensuring good housekeeping practices including job side clean-up of all substations, monitoring the ongoing work for adherence to safety standards, rules and practices.
